Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies

This recipe is a healthy twist on classic chocolate chip cookies!

I should start off with a disclaimer.  While these cookies are definitely easy and tasty, I'm not sure they can truly be called "healthy".  It would be more appropriate to say these cookies are "healthier" than other chocolate chip cookies.  Or maybe "less unhealthy" than other cookies?

Either way, I wanted to share this recipe because sometimes you need a good less-than-healthy treat.  These cookies taste like regular chocolate chip cookies, but they are 100% whole wheat and half of the butter is replaced with peanut butter (using plant-based fat instead of animal fat).  So these cookies are "less unhealthy" than most cookies, but they still taste awesome!

I don't put a ton of chocolate chips in my cookies, because I'm at least trying to be healthy.  But feel free to add more chocolate chips if you want more chocolate.

Here's the most important tip I know for making cookies: Don't overbake!!

Overbaked cookies = ruined cookies

These cookies only need to cook 7-8 minutes.  When you take them out of the oven, they might not look like they're done baking, but they will continue to set up as they cool.  By not overbaking the cookies, you ensure that the cookies will be soft and chewy.
